I went to Lancaster University from the end of September 2009 to the beginning of April 2010. I attended four lectures : Air Pollution Aerosol and Climate, Environmental Management, Ground Water Resources and Ecotoxicology. I also carried out a projet for Lancaster City Council aiming the reduction of Roundup use and the promotion of a sustainable way for weed control. This Erasmus-exchange program was rewarding. I learnt many things there. I explored a point of view of environmental issues different from the one I had in France for example, flood control is a major concern of the Environment Protection Agency.
I also improved my English skills a lot and I learnt a new way of studying, with fewer lectures, exercises anc calculus than in France. In fact studies in England involve frequent reading of books and research papers.
I lived in a host family therefore I fully enjoyed the typical every day life in England : tea, stew, fish and chips, Manchester United, TV shows, CNN, pubs and so on. I could share my opinion, ask questions about England and also compare it with France. Last but not least, I made really good friends and I had great nights out with, we went hiking in the Lake District and in Scotland many times as the result I had the chance to visit the North of England and remote Scotland.
After such a good experience you become a travel-addict, and after England I went to Takamatsu in Japan for an internship in a Water Environment and Hydrology Laboratory.
